Swimming

Uncle Luke wanted to go to the indoor swimming pool at Currents today for Father's Day, so we all met and suited up.  Tia wanted to bring along the GoPro camera since it likes the water.

This was a fun video of Jack Jack sliding down the mini-slide into the kiddie pool.

Funny video of Clivers dunking himself!

More to come.

Garage Muffin

So I've been playing with hand-made alcohol stoves for a while now and I thought I'd try my hand at steam baking.  Never afraid of watching me goof up, Tia picked up a package of "just add water" blueberry muffin mix and I was off to the races.

The picture below is the oven with stove.  The oven basically a titanium pot and lid.  Nestled inside the pot is a titanium bowl with the mix in it.  Boiling water in the bottom of the large pot with lid in place steam cooks the muffin.

The stove consists of a plastic fuel bottle, fuel hose, aluminum stove, and carbon felt wicking material.  Basically you squeeze the fuel bottle to flood denatured alcohol through the hose into the stove to saturate the black wick material and light it.  The wick will burn about 4 minutes and it'll look like it does below.  As the fuel burns down, the diameter of the flame decreases in size, decreasing the heat of the stove.  If you want higher heat, squeeeze the fuel bottle to flood the stove with fuel again.  If you want less heat, let it burn down to smaller diameter flame pattern.

23 minutes later

Not golden brown but warm and cooked all the way through.  First time the garage smelled like blueberry muffins too!  :-)

Was it good?

Haydee approved!

Look out Las Vegas, Here We Come...

Hayden & I headed down to Las Vegas to spend the week of Thanksgiving with Grammie & Grumpy.  I admit it, I was a little nervous flying by myself with Hayden for the first time.  We lucked out & were seated next to a really nice guy who was going down to LV to propose to his girlfriend so he was in a great mood.   A fussy baby was not going to bother him.  What was I worried about?  Little Mister was an angel the entire flight (he slept 90% of it).  Below is the best picture I could get of him on the plane.  Those seats get a lot smaller the older I get.

One morning Hayden was awake really early so "we" went to see if Grammie & Grumpy wanted to get up & play.  Luckily for Momma they did.  I got to go back to bed for another hour or so & when I got up they were all laying on the floor watching cartoons & eating bananas.  I think this kid could talk them into anything!

Uh oh, baby down!

Adam joined us Wednesday night before Thanksgiving.  Just in time for turkey & Bass Pro Shops.

Hayden & Daddy checking out the trout.

Hayden & Grammie enjoying the sunshine.  We lucked out, the weather was absolutely beautiful the entire week.

Apparently I was wrong, Hayden can't talk Grammie & Grumpy into everything.  We didn't come home with this ATV.  (Poor Daddy!)

After 10 years of living in Las Vegas I finally was able to convince Dad to stop at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign for some pictures.  I must be wearing him down, it took me 16 years to get Christmas lights put up.  Or maybe it's his darling grandson?

6 Months

Hayden turned 6 months old back in November & other than his shots, he had a great time at his doctors appointment.  They have really fun tissue paper on the tables & when you are waiting for the doctor for 20 minutes it apparently turns to shreds with a 6 month old.  Kept him happy and entertained though.

His stats:

Weight  16 lbs 14.8 oz  (36%)
Length  26 inches (31%)
Head circumference  44.5 cm (69%)

Gettin hungry

Oh, Hi Mom!

Still waitin

On Hayden's projected due date of May 20, 2011, Auntie Terry & U. Joe happened to be in town  for a bike ride.  U. Joe participates in these crazy long bike rides each year.  The one they were in town for starts out in Potomac goes all the way up through the Seeley-Swan Valley to Bigfork.  They spend the night in Bigfork & then turn around and ride back to Potomac the next day.  That's over 100 miles of riding each day!  (Pedal bike not motor bike)  They were hoping to meet their new great nephew while they were here but he was stubborn & didn't want to make an appearace yet.  So they had to settle for dinner with Adam & I at the Mustard Seed.  After dinner they said they had a little something for us/Hayden in the car.  It turned out they had a giant stuffed teddy bear.  It is over 4 1/2 feet tall!  Each month I try and remember to take a couple photos of Hayden next to this bear to see how he has changed size wise.  I have missed a couple months but remembered for 6.

Peas...No Thank You!

Below are some pics of Hayden trying peas for the first time.  Obviously, they were not his favorite.  Adam & I did get some entertainment out of watching him though.  He did get over his initial aversion to them pretty quickly & now eats them without all the faces.  Hayden is still a good little eater and enjoys almost everything except green beans.  I think I might have to try mixing them with something to get him to eat them.  Oh well, I guess he can't like everything.

Halloween

Hayden was a monkey this year for Halloween.  He was quite the trooper while Mommy & Daddy drug him around town getting in & out of the car.  Luckily this costume had one long velcro strip so it was easy to slip on & off.  Not sure Hayden saw the appeal of Halloween this year.  Maybe next year when he will get to sample the candy?

We stopped at Grandma Suzie & Grandpa Jesse's house.

Posin' with his pumpkins.

Whew, trick or treating is hard work.
