The Greats

Hayden is very lucky to have four Great Grandparents; even luckier that this summer he has been able to meet 3 out of 4 of them.  Unfortunately Great Grandma Pitt lives in Tennessee so we haven't made it there yet.

Hayden & I were able to meet his new cousin Teagan on our trip to Kalispell.  She was born this January & is just darling.  Not a surprise as my cousin Brittany & her husband Tory have five beautiful children.

  Hayden also met his Great Auntie Terry & Great Uncle Joe (aka U. Joe) this summer. 

Cousins Maddy & Taylor came over to Great Gram's for a playdate with Hayden.  Nana Terry was obviously more fun than Hayden.



As I write this post I am reminded of the people Hayden will not get the chance to meet... Great Grandpa Harold, Great Grandpa Keny, Great Grandpa & Grandma Chapman, Great Grandpa Pitt and Great Uncle Charlie.  Adam & I have wonderful memories and stories of you all that we will share with Hayden.  

We love you and miss you! 

Two Days, Two Weeks, Two Months

Recently Hayden had his 2 month checkup.  He was actually 2 1/2 months old because his pediatrician was on vacation.  Here are all his stats so far.

I was really surprised when the nurse said Hayden weighed over eleven pounds & thought he really had gained a lot of weight.  I was even more surprised to find out that his weight only put him in the 50th percentile for his age.  Oh well, at least he's still going in the right direction.

Flathead Lake

This summer we've spent a couple weekends up at Adam's parents place on Flathead Lake.  I'm not sure who enjoys it more, us or Senna?

Somehow Adam, Luke, Rebecca & I always seem to find the local microbrewery.  Here we are at the Glacier Brewing Company in Polson, MT.

Hayden & Adam at Wildhorse Island. 

There really are wild horses on this island but unfortunately we didn't see any.  Either late last year or earlier this year 5 mares were transplanted to the island.  Surprise, one of them was pregnant.  This was the first foal born on the island in a very long time & might be the last as there are only geldings and mares remaining.

Meet the Johnsons

The Friday of Fourth of July weekend my cousin Nick, his wife Jenny & their adorable daughters Madeline & Taylor (aka Maddy & Tay Tay) drove through Missoula on their way to Seattle.  Luckily they were able to stop for dinner so we could see them & they could meet Hayden.

Hiking with Hayden

At the end of June we took Hayden for his first hike.  We went to one of our favorites, the North Fork of the Blackfoot River.  This place reminds us a lot of Yellowstone, it had a major fire in 1988 as well.  It is a little bit of a drive but well worth it once you get there.  Usually we would be fishing by the end of June but with the tremendous snowpack this winter the water was still really high & muddy.  Just as well as we didn't know how Hayden would do on his first hiking outing.  If you can't tell from the photos he pretty much slept the whole time.

 We can't wait for Hayden to catch his first fish and experience one of the reasons we are lucky to live in the beautiful state of Montana.
