40 weeks..... and 2 days

May 22nd began around 4:00am for Tia.  She decided she wouldn't fall asleep again sometime around 6:00am and got up.  I lasted until 7:45am.  When I got up Tia was finishing a book on the couch while our dog consumed the remaining space at the other end of our couch.

Tia found a recipe last week for peanut butter waffles, so we tried them this morning.

After breakfast we did some yard work.  We need to plant our garden, which is currently loaded with raspberry plants.  Tia being the champion she is suggested we see Fast Five for a second time.  I think she understands the importance of our son understanding the need for speed.

After the show we decided dinner should be another one of our favorites.  Spicy italian sausage in cream sauce over penne pasta.  EXTRA red peppers.
We've been eating spicy dinners for three days now.  Tia's settling in for the night acting like dinner was a pepto bismol milkshake spiked with rolaids.  The girl is tough as nails and our boy seems content.

Tia wanted a belly picture so we snapped a few after dinner.

40 weeks

Well, here we are!  Today is his due date, and still no baby!  It's unbelievable how quickly the time has passed.

Aunt Terry and U Joe will be in town for Joe's annual bike ride, so we'll be joining them for dinner at the Mustard Seed if our little buddy doesn't decide he wants to meet us today.  Hopefully we'll have some fun news and photos to post here soon.  Keep yer cell phones charged!

Another update

We had another visit with our Doctor today.  Everything checked out well.  Weight?  Good.  Blood pressure??  Good.  Any contractions?  No...  Any questions?  "Yeah.  What if we reach our due date and no baby?"

So here's the plan.  Our Doctor is out of town for the next two days, so we won't go into labor for the next two days.  After that, we wait.  Our due date is the 20th, this Friday.  We discussed our options with our Doctor and we'll induce next Wednesday the 25th if we don't go into labor before then.

You CAN plan this kind of stuff right?

Sunday night, just checking in...

It's 8:35pm as I type this, and all is quiet.  Tia is feeling well with nothing much to report.  She's been tired and was able to get a nice nap yesterday.  We're both catching colds, which is less than ideal given the timing.

Missoula had a rediculous amount of wind this weekend.  Most of the blossoms on our fruit trees held fast though.  Last year squirrels ripped every single blossom off of our cherry and apricot trees.  This year the squirrels aren't fairing so well...  We will enjoy our rainier cherries.  Our lawn is getting thick and green already.  I think I mowed it for the seventh time this year yesterday.  I'm currently cycling the sprinkler system zones to discover what sprinkler heads didn't survive the winter for whatever reason.  Tia is making tilapia sandwiches for dinner.  Our dog Senna is bumbling around with the Sunday night blues with no idea how life is about to change around the house.  That's about it I guess....  Oh wait, Tia just pointed out the sprinkler test was perfect as it's pouring rain now!  Not an exciting update, but what else do you do while you're hanging around the house, waiting to have a baby?

Tick...... Tock....... Tick....... Tock.......

Here we are, 8 days until our due date, and counting.  Tia has been a real trooper.  She makes this look easy.  Today is our weekly checkup appointment so perhaps we'll know a little more tonight, however we have nothing new to report as of now.  Will it be our last appointment?

Our hospital bags are packed.  We learned how to install the carseat when Grandma Claire last visited, and it's been in place ever since.  Aside from assembling a mobile bar so Tia can have a much needed cocktail after he's born, we're basically ready.  Now we simply wait!

Last week our Doctor's last appointment of the day cancelled, and she offered us an ultrasound for fun.  I tried to get some pictures of his face, however there isn't much room to spare in there so he was difficult to capture.

This is where you have to have an imagination, as our Doctor likes to say.  If you look at the upper right portion of the ultrasound, the faint round shape you see is his head. His forehead is at the very top, and he's facing upwards and to the left.  As you follow the round shape counterclockwise, the shape dips in towards is eye and nose.
